The number of great coaches (including head coaches) that hit speed bumps..
is pretty high. Even Bill Belichick was run out of Cleveland for being a "bad" head coach. The question isn't what happens when you do poorly, it is do you improve after. Also, I am not sure I would go so far as saying he was a bad running backs coach. I like Shane because I think that recruiting is Tech's most difficult barrier to break. I was vocal when Fuente was hired that he was very concerning from a recruiting perspective. Memphis had better recruiting (rankings and otherwise) both before and after Fuente. I had hoped that his coaching prowess would make up for it, but that hasn't occurred to date.
And yes, perhaps I am hoping for some family "magic".
