Whit is not going to hire Shane Beamer...and he shouldn't want to hire Shane Beamer. We all love Frank and everything he did for the football program and university...but he's gone. And any thought that his kid could somehow recreate the magic Frank had here is a huge reach!. It's a step backward...and Whit is too smart to fall into that trap. We really have to get over the Beamer romance. It was great while it lasted...and it's loaded with great memories...but it's over.

Which leads nicely into the argument against Shane even wanting to coach at VT. Can you imagine the pressure...and then the embarrassment if he fell short here? Who in their right mind would want all that with their first head coaching gig? He'd be under a magnifying glass with every step he takes...and nobody needs that for their first HC job.

Is VT really in such sad shape that we'd hire a guy who's never been a HC before? Are you kidding me??? All the love coming from former players is great...but it doesn't mean he knows how to run a program. I'm stunned that so many here would really entertain this option.

I don't think CJF is going anywhere just yet. I think he's getting a COVID pass...and he'll be back next year. And I don't think VT should pay him $10 million to go.
