That's why I liked the BCS format.
It combined traditional opinion polls, coaches and AP, with computer scores. Gave teams like the Hokies a fighting chance, and it's what propelled us to our lone appearance in the championship game. Personally, I hate polls, as they're a popularity contest. Unless you're one of the big boys, you have to go undefeated to have any chance at a high ranking. Even then, the big boys can often have 1 and 2 losses and not miss a beat, because of who they are. Really though, it's no different in basketball. The rich stay rich, there's always an outlier or two, but it's almost always the same names year in, year out.
