I have thought about this for a while....

I moved out of the state of Virginia a few years ago. My family has held season football tickets ever since I was in elementary school (i am 35 now), VT was all i knew growing up and I had multiple family members attend VT throughout the years. I now live in the state of Florida and my parents have moved to NC....long story short, unless you have a personal connection (just my opinion) to the school, most kids that have the ability to go to, say Florida or FSU or Georgia or tOSU or ND are not going to really consider VT. The school is not a "sexy" pick to those outside of the VT fanbase. We need a generational talent (like Vick) or we need a coach with a big personality, to sell what VT has to offer. Kids down here in FLA (unless they are VT pipeline schools or have an ex-VT player as a coach dont even know about VT). On top of that, the bigger schools have TONs of money to spend and VT is just not at that level yet.

IMO, we need more recruiting funds, updated facilities and a coaching staff with more personality that can get out and sell VT to kids. Make VT a "cool" place to come to. Clemson is in the middle of no where, just like VT, but Dabo is in the media EVERY DAY, love him or hate him, he sells Clemson. Its crazy to me how very few people outside of the state of VA even know about the football program and thats on the staff and the administration.

These are just my outside opinions of course...
