Since Shane Beamer is getting mentioned, I figure he deserves analysis

I will start by saying that I was not a fan of his name being tossed around pre-Fuente because Shane was not experienced enough at that point in time. But given how times have changed, I think he deserves a fair assessment.

Tangible positives:
- Played at VT and knows the school and culture.
- Played on a team in the MNC game.
- Has coached at VT.
- Has coached under multiple very experienced head coaches. Phil Fuller, Frank Beamer, Steve Spurrier.
- Has coached at big programs, Georgia, Oklahoma, VT, Miss St, South Carolina. (In ACC, SEC, Big 12).
- Has coached positions on offense, defense and special teams.
- Has coached for three years straight in the playoffs including a national champ game.

Intangible positives:
- Beamer name could help him day one with big money donors.
- VT connections mean loyalty and he would be less likely to leave if he is successful here.
- Young and has a long future ahead and would possibly bring fresh views to recruiting and O and D systems.
- Might be cheaper to hire than existing head coaches.

Cons:
- never been a coordinator or a HC
- has not been in the ACC or Virginia for several years.
- Big risk with picking a Beamer legacy as it will come with extra scrutiny.
- Unknown what his strategy will be for O or D if he were a HC.

Overall, at this point in time I think Shane Beamer is actually worthy of consideration.
