I'm not sure that he would do as well at Clemson as anyone else

He runs a simplified offense (8 offensive plays essentially) but running a "simple but lethal" offense at FSU sure didn't help Taggart. His offensive philosophy comes down to having a mobile QB with a spread the field mentality. Everyone is going to this type of offense so Fu won't necessarily do any better than the next guy.

With regards to personality, I've heard many stories about how he is just not personable, and has a cold fish arrogant mentality. I can easily imagine being a recruit and having myself and my family being schmoozed and charmed by Dabo or Mack Brown. Fuente just doesn't have it in him to do that.

In addition, when the recruits and families hear stories (from other schools usually) about how Cam Goode and Tahj Capehart were treated, its a clincher for them not to come to VT. The worst part is how the other area recruits and their coaches in the DC/NOVA and Va Beach/Tidewater hear about these stories as well and steer away from Fuente. Its not that he won't recruit in VA, its that he CAN'T. He has burned recruiting bridges to our most important recruiting grounds due to his own petulant actions.
