Games in the late 80s and early 90s were fun... hoped to win, but didn’t
Expect to (if anything, expected to lose, LOL).
The problem with success is it creates expectations of continued success (and even improvement).
That balance hung in there well past the Vick years thanks to legendary coaches who drew in some great talent.
That time like many good things has faded... remember when Alabama and USC and Clemson sucked for awhile?!?! Remember what sparked their resurgence? Great coaching hires!!! Drove immediate recruiting wins, followed by wins on the field.
The problem we have is the current HC and staff has failed to Effectively recruit, with classes rated lower and lower... should be no expectation the on field results are what they are. Gonna get worse before it gets better.
My advice (which I practice myself usually, though I failed this past debacle Saturday) is to find some other fun stuff to do on some or most of your Saturdays and not make your weekend happiness hinge on the VT game.
Hopefully the future is bright for VT football, but we’ll need more patience for sure... geaux Hokies!
