Not only was the kick impossibly long, there was 8 seconds on the clock. Attempting a kick that far with that much time was a mistake by the LU coach, though he was influenced by having no timeouts left. By calling the time out he gave the Liberty coach a chance to correct his mistake and move closer before attempting the FG. However if Liberty kicked and missed with no bock, there is probably enough time for a quick pass and timeout with a second left. Of course, the kick was blocked and returned for a TD. I just find no way to justify the TO.
