I don’t know. Coaches are imperfect. 18-22 year olds are imperfect.
When you don’t have a massive talent advantage, you lose games you should win. You sometimes don’t show up and play as well as you should.
I think you’re underestimating the parity in college football. Most of the time, there’s another team on the field that isn’t that much better or worse than VT. They’re trying to win too. BC this year had five turnovers and they got blown out. I guess that means there coach isn’t very good.
We got blown out against Duke last year. I guess our coach isn’t any good.
I mean, parity produces a lot of variance and unpredictability in outcomes.
With regard to money, I’m not talking about your measly $3000. I’m talking about acknowledging the reality of the finances of college football. If you don’t want to be at the whim of parity-based variance, become a big boy of college football. To do that, invest millions.
My guess is that we don’t lose more “winnable” games than the typical program in college football.
