Former UNC BOG chair was Harry Smith, multimillionaire from Greenville NC. He steps down and endorses new chair Randall Ramsey, multimillionaire boatbuilder from Beaufort NC.

Harry Smith fishes the Big Rock Tournament in a yacht from Ramsey's company, Jarrett Bay boatworks - I wonder if the boat purchase somehow coincided with the transfer of the chair seat. Smith was also instrumental in running ECU's last chancellor Cecil Staton out of town after Staton seemingly refused an "old boys club" type deal between ECU and some housing Smith was involved in. Now Staton's suing ECU, which in the current financial crisis is just awesome for the university.
