..and college football was one entity with a commissioner, they could collectively bargain a solution to this and use shared revenue to support a plan across all of the power 5. Sound familiar?

But they don't and every player is free to sue them if they get sick and permanently disabled. 95% may want to play now but it takes way less than that to bury a school under a class action lawsuit.

Also, some schools (a few) can afford to fully support thorough protocols like the pro sports are doing but many can't. This puts the schools at uneven risk for those lawsuits.

College football's loose organizational structure is not serving it well in a pandemic. It's not always convenient to pretend you are not really a professional organization.
