No one is suggesting that a significant number of football players...


...are going to die. But "most everyone will survive" doesn't exactly equate to "the season will be played." What I think VTECHFAN is saying is that we are already seeing how difficult it is to prevent the virus from running rampant through the entire roster of a team in a sport with much less physical contact than football. You said it in your own post - the virus is very contagious. If it can affect half a baseball roster in the first week of the season, imagine what might happen with football. I think the suggestion being made here is that people are going to quickly realize that football season is going to be almost logistically impossible to pull off. What happens when multiple teams have to forfeit because most of their roster is sick?

I think VTECHFAN's assumption is that the season won't be played because it's probably going to end up with nearly every team dealing with multiple cases after the first 3-4 weeks, and then at that point you are probably going to have to cancel the remaining games. My guess is that if the CFB season begins at all, it will not be able to be completed as planned.
