We're talking about freedoms, not rights.


I mentioned rights in my post because an infringement of freedoms COULD lead to an erosion of rights -- but our conversation is about freedoms. Do you disagree with the idea that every time the government compels or constrains your actions you're less free? That seems terribly uncontroversial. I mean, the opposite of compulsion and constraint is being allowed to do what you want -- which sounds a lot like freedom.
