Disagree and dangerous sentiment

I am curious - 100,000+ people is a pretty large number of folks to die in 3.5 month period (and most experts think that recorded number is low not high). Even if a large number of those folks were over 70 years of age, what number would have been "acceptable?" What if 50 percent of those would have died anyway during the same time frame. 50,000 people dead in 3.5 months. That's not so bad. Hell. that's only 25x the number of soldiers killed in Afghanistan. I mean, that has been going on for 19 years - but whatever.

The precautions taken likely prevented COVID-19 from killing significantly more people. And, let's not kid ourselves. This will happen again. SARS and MERS gave us early warnings, but, we didn't do anything but cut budgets and whistle through the graveyard. Now COVID-19. What next? Will it be 2 years, 10 years, when does the next one happen?

We prepare for wars and natural disasters; we should prepare for the next pandemic.

If you were a virologist, epidemiologist, or a frontline doctor I might be more inclined to listen, but I believe it's probably better to defer to the people who know shit than listen to armchair leaders of national heath.
