Most of You Sound Delusional

Maybe we should join the SEC so we can compete with their fanbases.

I hope most people realize that Frank Beamer, transplanted into today’s game, very well might not have found success that he found in the 90s/2000s. He was a good coach, that hit the right timing, and capitalized very well on a number of factors.

You can try to compare us to Clemson, and we could follow their model, but we will never be Clemson. They have history, a rabid fan base, more females on campus, warm weather most of the year... were missing those things. (Yes, we don’t have that rabid if a fan base, and im fine with it)

I’m not a fan of whit, more because of personal experiences with him, but he’s a damn good athletic director. I think a lot of people here seem to have very little familiarity with how an athletic department truly operates internally. (Yes they’re comparable to a corporation, but those comparisons hold very little weight.)

I’m not saying it’s the wrong path necessarily (cutting Olympic sports and funneling more money into football/basketball) but depends on your goals I guess. VT has systematic things that hold us back from being a blue blood. It’s the truth. We are positioned to have moments of huge success, but that will be cyclical, at best.

Hypothetically, We could devote everything into football, and still not win the ACC consistently. Building a well rounded athletic department of sports provides stability, and breeds success overall.

Whit has taken a pretty slow growth approach to building those programs, and we’re finding related improvements.

Just trying to throw a more level headed perspective out there
