The highly ranked kids are there to compete
Plus with the upcoming free transfer rule... if it doesn't work out at Auburn, he can transfer somewhere else later.
You can bet your rear that DD has heard a variation of this line a time or two: "If you were a lower level recruit and had the choice to go to Virginia Tech and compete for a job or East Carolina and be a near guarantee to start... there's almost no chance you would select East Carolina... a big part of playing is to compete at the highest possible level.... well, given the chance to play at Auburn in front 80K rabid fans and against Alabama and LSU, why as a competitor would you shortchange yourself and go to Virginia Tech? If you wouldn't go to East Carolina over Virginia Tech, why go to Virginia Tech over Auburn?"
The bigger schools pass that comparison on about Virginia Tech all the time.
