I think AT THIS POINT in his tenure CMY is a good darn

coach because he won more games with what he had to work with than arguably anyone expected. If he goes on to do what Buzz did - regardless of the mix of strengths and weaknesses he has as a coach, WIN consistently and put VT basketball back in the picture for top tier success in the ACC and regular ventures into the NCAA - which I personally expect should be his measuring stick - vs. winning the ACC and NCAA because the cards are mostly stacked against him to do that any time soon, then I think that will qualify him as another damn good coach at VT. If he has as many or more quality players in the right positions, working as a team,,than Buzz did, and he doesn't win on the same level I'd say he's not as good a coach as Buzz. Ultimately winning at the level that is expected by the people who pay the coach (including fans) to win is all that really matters.

Will Mike Young be considered a good or an exceptional coach 2 years, 5 years, 10 years from now? If he win's enough of the right games to meet the expectations of the paying public and the AD,,,he'll be viewed as exceptional. If he doesn't he won't..but it will all be based on WINNING, not on HOW he goes about doing it (short of ethical / moral standards).
