From what I gathered from some very active Hokie Twitter accounts -

last Friday we were supposed to land a commitment from Philip Riley. DD tweeted something along the lines of "we getting a good one today" then deleted his tweet I found out several of our fans messaged Riley before his planned announcement and that apparently put a sour taste in his mouth and he backed off his commitment.
So yeah you could be onto something about him being frustrated on not getting guys bought in.
