Yep, meant Iowa...got Haarms on the brain
Im sure what MY has told him is there is an opportunity with the numbers when it comes to post players for him to play a role at VT. I know fans like to harp on it a lot, but Ive never once heard a coach talk about playing time with a recruit. And every single kid thinks theyre going to play regardless.
So Pemsl sees 2 factors:
1) VT had a lack of bigs
2) VTs style of play fits really well with my skill set
Both of those things are 100% true
So VT selling the roster and the style of play is completely fair game. Whether or not Pemsl beats out Aluma and Ojiako is dependent on who develops between now and whenever the season is played. But if the season started today, Pemsl is logically the odd man out. Ojiako is the future and will play professionally if you take care of his development. Aluma knows the system better than any other player on the roster. Those 2 are going to be extremely tough to beat out.
Im not sure I would say VT is ahead of Iowa either, theyre pretty comparable programs, and I view Pemsl's role at VT to be about what it was this last year at Iowa.
