As far as I understand, if you're injured but expect to return you can redshirt (if available). You can also petition for an extra year at the end of your career if you've lost multiple years. If you get that, it's sort of like an after-the-fact injured reserve. But I'm not aware of anything in MBB that lets you pause your five-to-play-four calendar. (In wrestling, there is a once-in-four-years "Olympic redshirt" that our Mekhi Lewis took this year to prepare for the now-postponed Olympic trials.)

If you're completely done and will not return in future years, the hardship waiver lets you finish your education without tying up a scholarship for your team.
