What's wrong with being honest with your players?
Wilkins wasn't going to play anywhere near as much as he did this past year, and if he liked being on the floor VT was not the place to get minutes. Kudos to Coach Young for letting him know about how things stand now, while he's got a chance to find a better situation.
Last year Wilkins had an opportunity to seize a starting role, but he didn't shoot well enough or bring enough quickness to the table to put younger, smaller guys like Cattoor or Alleyne on the bench. Most of his minutes ended up being at the '4' backing up Nolley. Consider that in 2020 he'd be facing 2 new 6'4 guards competing for time at the wing, and 2 new Forwards competing for time at the 4.
