Typical bureacratic approach of having quest for the perfect defeat the good. Thankfully all public private sector lab resources have been marshalled now red tape cut.
Medical lab community in USA will quickly get us where we need to be in terms of test capabilities.

Issue to worry about now may be supply of venelators. Do hospitals have enough? Gov't stockpile reserves are limited less than 10K stockpiled. Hopefully, measures taken to slow the spread flaten the curve will prevent spike where lack of venelators is a problem.
