Overthinking a bit

First I will say that this team has performed way above my expectations before the year started. I was expecting maybe 2 wins in ACC and maybe high side 4. I think maybe most people thought that. We were expecting Buzz Williams 1st year. 2-16 type numbers in conference, 11-22 overall. Mike Young is here until he retires. He, in my opinion could build the best VT Basketball brand ever.
Player Evaluation
Nahiem Alleyne freshman Was better than I expected
Tyrece Radford redshirt freshman performed way above my expectations. If he develops any type of outside shot watch out.
Hunter Cattoor freshman A more solid player than I thought, especially for a freshman
Jalen Cone freshman who could still be in high school is a lot like Chris Lykes of Miami, best overall shooter this year.
Landers Nolley freshman started off better than I expected and then hit a slump as far as his shot
Isaiah Wilkins sophomore good role player who need to get leaner.
John Ojiacko freshman starting to learn basketball will be a very good player who has tremendous upside.
Wabissa Bede tough point guard who needs to be more of a threat offensively.Junior
PJ Horne became much better player in Mike Young's system.

Overall evaluation of year would be that Mike Young hit it right on the nose. If we shoot well we are in games and when we do not it is not going to be pretty. Great shooting and Nolley playing at his best enabled VT to play its best early. Freshman, Freshman, Freshman. They will become sophomores.

Looking forward
VT developed a lot of experience and it would not surprise me to see a roster move or two. I do not see it as being advantageous for Nolley to go pro or to transfer because he would have to sit out one year. Next year along with the team being a year older we know we have three other players coming in in Keve Alluma and Joe Bamisile and Darious Maddox. I am assuming Alluma practiced with team and it is possible we pick up one more forward or center. Obviously you could see after next year three or more roster slots open up with Horne and Bede being seniors and Nolley possibly turning pro. Nolley has a tremendous amount of upside once he learns to be more consistent and gets a little stronger physically. A lot of team improvement to look forward to.
