This is the same problem we had with last year's team

But, we didn't try to solve this problem with more rebounds last year either. The reason that we didn't is that we didn't (and still don't) have the personnel to effectively challenge for offensive rebounds. It's a difficult skill to do well, and doing it with Freshman is even more challenging.
So, if you are going to send more players to work for rebounds, you are going to give up transition points.

This staff has determined that the team needs to work the offense to generate open shots. VT has a number of good shooters, and on the balance the shots should fall. This will limit offensive rebound opportunities so we don't have to compete in an activity that we aren't really built for right now. VT has had the open looks, but recently the shots haven't fallen for the team.

I think that we are playing the game that we need to right now. But, we are going to have some bad shooting nights. I am more concerned with the defensive consistency, as this team needs to make scoring difficult for the opposing team while to be successful.
