Generally, players who enter the portal are unhappy - either for not getting the playing time they want or not liking some aspect about their collegiate choice. Ridding the team of malcontents is probably in the best interest of team chemistry. If someone doesn't want to be at Somewhere U but wants to be here, and can help the program, Coach Fu should take that player. I don't see how this position is hypocritical or wrong. Hopefully, VT players who are considering entering the portal would have discussed their "situation" with Coach Fu or their position coach, and reached a realistic understanding of their future at VT. Unfortunately, too many young players are unwilling to work for two or three years to earn significant playing time.
