No CEO ever gets 4 full years to "transition" from the prior management team. Most boards want to see major progress 2-3 quarters in, unless it's a huge turnaround project, which VT was most certainly not. The fact that he would bring this up four years in (51 actual months in) is strange, and I don't understand the thought process. Dude, you are the man, all you have to do is beat Duke, ODU, Virginia.
