It was about the fall of Michael Vick and his rise from prison. Last night wasn’t a slight on VT. It was portraying that he was homesick and even had to bring a childhood friend with him. He was always drawn back to Newport News not because of any racism on anyone at VT, but he was most comfortable in the 757.
Even Atlanta, where there are more African Americans than Blacksburg, couldn’t keep him from going back home every week. His misplaced loyalty to the childhood friends couldn’t be broken.
This piece was never about VT. It’s trying to show that the place he lived for the first 18 years of his life was deeper in his soul than the 2 1/2 years in Blacksburg. Lets face it, Blacksburg was unfortunately an issue because he could get to NN and back so easily as compared to having gone to Syracuse.
