Trying to be objective.
Our Hokies were down 41-19 and getting run out of the gym
Responded with a 40-22 run to get within 4 with over a minute left and the last minute didn't go well. Who saw that coming? Everybody who said "this is over...this will get ugly...this team has quit...we are getting run out of the gym"... those people were wrong. And I was one of those people.
We aren't 0-2 or 1-3 right now. We are 14-7 and 5-5 in the ACC; 6 of 10 of those ACC games have been played on the road, which puts us at +1 for you Greenberg holdovers. VT is at +1 after 10 ACC games with 6 freshmen, 1 soph and 2 jrs. That's pretty remarkable.
We just went to Miami-Boston in the span of three days and played in arenas that would fail to excite my 21 month old son. (He's pretty excitable) And we played teams that obviously didn't bring out the best in our young Hokies. Except that second half against Miami was 34-19 VT for the first 95% of the half.
Our Hokies will be in Blacksburg for 20 of the next 22 days, save a 2 day trip to ATL to play GT. There is a one week respite during that stretch as well. If it's rest we need, rest we shall receive.
Let's let the next 10 games play out before we decide what the results of this season will be. Try to enjoy this young team, given their flaws. It's supposed to be fun.
