Miami's team last year had talent, but four big flaws.

#1. Worst kicker in all of college football. Manny got a transfer kicker from FIU (kid that hit two 50-ish yarders to beat Miami in a humiliating upset that put Diaz firmly on the hot seat). An average kicker and Miami beats UNC, GT and Florida. Maybe VT too.

#2. Very immature QB room. Williams liked South Beach too much. They were counting on the transfer from Ohio State, but surprisingly Tate Martell just didn't have it. Either bad coaching by Miami or bad evaluation from everyone in the country as he was a big-time recruit who chose Ohio State for a reason. But Manny moved quickly and secured the top QB in the portal. 5th year senior. Should be huge upgrade.

#3. Horrible offensive line. Started two true freshmen among other problems. Lots of talent in the portal at that position, and their players will all be a year older regardless. TBD how improvement will be forthcoming.

#4. Just bad fit at OC. Enos was a big-time get from Alabama, but just didn't work out. His system wasn't a good fit for the personnel and his style didn't mesh with anyone. They are moving to a spread offense, which should help with the young offensive line and the speed at the skill positions. The new QB should be a great fit.

You would have to think Miami is the heavy favorite to win the coastal next season. On top of Roche, they also are bringing in a top 15 class and are pushing out the team cancers.
