I had a good offer 2 years ago, first thing I did was tell my boss


I emphasized I wasn't asking for anything. I just wanted him to know, and shared some of what I knew. He was understanding and respectful. Said he would really rather I stay, and wanted to know my decision when I was ready. Ultimately I turned down the new offer, he was visibly happy and all has been well.
