that Fu's been here. What has Fu done? Memphis has flourished without him and we have gone downhill WITH him. Furman was a home game right? Not a great game, IIRC. The youth card has really, really gotten old - it can not work every year. We had a great game at ND only to lose in the last minute. We had a great 3 3/4 quarters at the Belk Bowl until we again blew it in the 4th. As I recall Beamer "got it started at VT", for several decades, only to have Fu destroy it within 4 years. Inconsistent this year? We had our first losing season in decades LAST year. We lost to uva and BC and got blown out by a mediocre Duke team - is that inconsistent? We had the weakest schedule among big schools and we won 8 and lost 5. The guy does not know how to close a game, and therefore observe what he has/ has not done. I don't blame him as much as I blame Whit for hiring him without interviewing others, including Tom Herrman, who wanted the job and never got an interview. His team destroyed a ranked Utah team yesterday in a bowl, and once again I lamented that we didn't get him. Trade me Herrman for Fuente and I'll throw in several assistants.
