New Year Thoughts

1) We will be better next year, just because the team is more mature. The schedule is tougher (overall), but we are built to win a few more close games.(Throwing out that we should automatically win scheduled games with Liberty - at home, and Middle Tennessee - on the road) BTW- Who is North Alabama?
2) There will be growing pains in the defense, however, the nucleus is in place to make it special. Coach Ham will bring more energy to the defense.
3) Recruiting will improve, thanks to the youthfulness of the assistant coaches, and available scholarships..
4) Offense will be more balanced. The running back situation will be more solid, and the receivers will experienced and ready to play. This will be make it or break it year for Coach Cornelson in my opinion. For what it's worth, all of the Kentucky fans around me said this was the best offense they had faced all year, including all of the SEC teams they faced.
5) Our schedule will be improved next year, so home attendance and excitement will be better.
6) UVA will continue to build a better program than in past years. The excitement leading up to that game will be over the top. FWIT, UVA is on a solid foundation now, so expect the rivalry to be more even ground in the future. Still VT will have the overall edge.
7) If you are a fan, and post on this board, it's time to put your money where your mouth is out. Become a member of the drive for 25. If you can afford to eat out once a week, you can afford to contribute once a year.
8) The coastal division will be much more competitive next year and beyond. There is a lot of growth within the division, but next year in particular will be great for VT as so many will loose a boatload of seniors. Look for UVA, NC, GT, and Pitt to all compete hard in games. NC is a sleeper, and (although I really dislike them), they are on the rise.

2020 will be a great year for football. Challenging schedule with Penn State at home (We will win that game), Louisville on the road (toss up, but they loose a lot of seniors), and NC, Pitt, and Duke on the road (payback game there). Realistically picking 9-10 wins, and orange bowl birth next year. Happy New Year!
