CU was the better team. OSU has a check down QB
The QB for OSU is good, but more of a check down guy and it was evident with OSUs short and wide out passing through most of the game. I don't think the OSU staff was totally comfortable with him throwing the ball in the middle of the field.
Check down guys often get exposed in the red zone. The field is shortened and the secondary is then closer to the line of scrimmage and the check down passing doesn't work. Remember how many times OSUs QB checked down or even a called/designed short and out pass in the red zone that would actually lose 1 or 2 yds even when completed?
Clemson was aware of this and this is exactly why OSU had to settle for FGs inside the 20s early on and even the last drive when forced to throw in the middle of the field, he errored and threw the pick. The best team actually DID when this game.
Last 3.5 minutes it was will and heart vs will and heart. OSU had two chances to win it. Simply stop CU on that final drive and OSU wins. Chance two was EVEN if OSU doesn't stop em and gives up a TD, they can still win by going down the field and scoring a TD. OSU went 0-2 in both scenarios. The better team did win. Clemson outcoached them.
