Even if VT signed the Top 5 VA recruits in a particular class

those 5 recruits could all be ranked outside the Top 1,000 or even Top 10,000 nationally that year. Plus, they may not play a position of need. What good would it do for the program if VT entered the season with only 1 QB on the roster, but had 20 WRs, 10 RBs, and 8 TEs because the program was able to sign the Top 5 VA recruits every year for the last 4 seasons?
