consistently good since Shibest has been at VT. Here are ESPN Efficiency and FEI rankings for our Special Teams:

2016: 33 (EPSN), 39 (FEI), Avg = 36
2017: 5 (ESPN), 10 (FEI), Avg = 8
2018: 53 (ESPN), 35 (FEI), Avg = 44
2019: 27 (ESPN), 16 (FEI), Avg = 22

2018 was the worst year and was still considered Top 35 by FEI and was Top 45 if you average the two data points. His unit rebounded this year with a Top 25 effort and while we aren't blocking kicks at a Beamer Ball rate, our return units have been solid and our coverage units have been exceptional this year with not allowing any punt or kick returns longer than 29 yards this year with just two kick returns of at least 25 yards and just two punt returns of at least 20 yards.

There are certainly some things to quibble with...such as letting Jordan Stout move on and taking half a season to make a change at Punt Returner but even then he found a quality replacement on kickoffs who performed admirably and has now found what appears to be a great punt returner in Robinson.
