I was surprised in the first half

When there was a turnover on a pass from Nolley to a high post, Duke player stole the ball and went to score. Nolley started to chase but then stopped and walked...something like 10 feet from the basket. Young immediately called a timeout. I was surprised to see Nolley come out on the other side of the timeout because I was sure part of the timeout was going to be about effort. I understand if Nolley didn't think he could make a difference in stopping the score but there are always potential for missed layups, dunks, challenging without fouling.... even the appearance of effort. Just as a coach I was surprised.

I am sure part of Young's year has to "take the good with the bad" when it comes to Nolley and balance getting on him with not having someone rebel. Between turnovers and defensive lapses, Nolley is a work in progress. It was good to see him not force things so much. One of his turnovers was a dump pass to the post as he drove. The post didn't anticipate it. So nice idea.

On another note. There was an instance in which Radford came down with the ball on the right wing in transition and another VT player was open in the corner. The corner player had his hands up for a pass but it didn't come immediately. The corner player expressed frustration visibly. That can't happen. There was attitude. There were other instances of attitude or frustration, even when the game was not out of reach.
