To buy a 2019 UVA-VT ticket, you had to either have 2018 season or donate

$100/$250 to VAF (based on seating section.)

The enforcement of this donation requirement was poorly implemented, and had several loopholes. One loophole allowed bypassing donations entirely, were another loophole allowed people to have a donation of $10, instead of the $100/$250. Two days ago, the loopholes became somewhat public, and UVA administration cracked down on them. They voided tickets purchased on 11/26 using this method, and refunded ticket costs to the customers. Anyone who purchased the tickets using this loophole earlier were allowed to keep them. I heard some conflicting reports if those that used the $10 donation method were refunded for the donations, though I believe it is intended to refund that amount as well.

My hot take on it: Honestly, the extra cost should just be cooked into the cost of the ticket, especially since the donation isn't tax-deductible. Have another purchasing option for season-holders/qualifying donors that checks your account status and allows you to purchase the cheaper ticket. Having a season-finale rivalry game be priced higher is okay. To keep everything more than fair, the new policy shouldn't have taken effect until after this season (policy was announced March 2019, so too late to qualify as a 2018 season ticket holder). I'd rather have the stadium full first before wondering what the fan distribution is, but that's just my spicy perspective.

For the "Will-my-ticket-scan" people: Those who bought tickets directly through UVA's TO were notified via email that their tickets were bad. Going off what myershokie shared on TheSabre yesterday: If people purchased tickets through StubHub, StubHub verified the listings of tickets for the game. If the purchase was completed, then you're ok. Listings of bad tickets were taken down. Listings with voided tickets are prevented from being added. So there shouldn't be an issue.
