Two points to consider regarding Bryce Perkins and Virginia's offense

After scanning TSL, there are a few comments I've seen that I wanted to chime in on:

1. Perkins' stats are lukewarm this year.

A couple things that have contributed to this. He was dinged up to start the year and wore a knee brace for about the first half of the year due to a preseason injury. The other issue was OL play, which was dismal to start the year. The OL has improved as of late and doesn't seem to be quite the liability it was early in the year.

Perkins now seems to be back to the level of production we came to expect last year. Yes, some of this has something to do with pretty average defenses, though from the eye test alone, he looks noticeably quicker. Bronco commented that Armstrong's absence (he was out for about a month mid-year due to turf toe) contributed to not running Perkins as much as he'd like. If needed, Armstrong is extremely capable in backup role and keep an eye out for some gadget plays with him involved. Anyway, here are Perkins' stats over last three games:

Passing: 72/104 (69.2%) 835 yards, 6 TD/0 INT
Rushing: 248 yards, 4 TD's

2. He's a "one man show."

Reed, Duboise, and Jana are about as solid of a WR corps as there is in the ACC outside of Clemson. Kelly is a threat in the slot. He has plenty of weapons on the outside. How Anae utilizes his talent on the outside has always been more of a question than the personnel itself. I would think UVA keys on the third WR who doesn't get the Farley/Waller treatment. IMO, Virginia has the advantage there.

One last point, heading into the Liberty game UVA led FBS in average starting field position margin at +9.7 yards/drive. Special teams has been the best it's been at UVA since the Welsh years. IMO, the blueprint for a Virginia win is to go +1 in TO's and win the field position battle, though I understand your punter (and obviously defense) has been terrific and this will be no easy feat.
