We often make one night trips up to see football games. Dublin, Virginia has a number of hotels at VA 100 (Exit 98 off of I-81, I think). The nicest one is probably the Hampton Inn, but there are 3-4 others there, as well. No 2-night minimums and very convenient to the highway.

It's also about 30 mins from Blacksburg ... closer than Wytheville.
