You are not alone

We have had basketball season tickets for years. It is difficult to get to all the games, but we make every effort to get our tickets into the hands of other Hokies so that our seats are always full. But the whole StubHub setup surely makes you wonder what is going on inside the ticket office. The kickback from StubHub must be sizable, as they obviously want StubHub to be the only ticket avenue outside of the actual ticket office. By putting the last remaining tickets on StubHub just prior to the game, the ticket office now does not have the need to manage walk up sales either. People selling tickets outside of the game is almost non-existent anymore (I gave this up long ago because there simply are not enough buyers walking up looking for tickets - they have already bought them online). Between the low priced nose bleed seats and the removal of the Ticket Exchange program, they have driven the value of the tickets down as well. My best success in selling tickets has always been either word of mouth or the ticket boards here on TSL, but admittedly those methods work best when a local exchange is possible (which takes some time and effort on both sides). Luckily for us, we are relatively close so this often works. For season ticket holders from longer distances (Richmond, NoVa, etc), they seem to be willing to eat the StubHub fees so they have an easier way to dump tickets. But as we all know many of those seats are empty, especially the weekday non-conference games.

We will be a the basketball game today and will be rushing home to watch the GT game on a bit of a delay. It will be curious to see how many empty seats there will be today for a sell out.
