I know that we are all sick over yesterday but if we really think about it...our goal this year at this point is not a national championship but we do have an opportunity to win the coastal. Our offense was as vanilla as you could imagine. Our defense was not as stout as we would like to think it was especially with mary jane, injuries, and targeting calls. If I were coaching, I would think that this game is a freebie. Win or lose we grow our people. No one gave us a chance. We played a great game. We should have been down at half time by a load but we had an interception and a fumble return for a touchdown. Would our conversations this morning been about a sagging defense on the last series and two play calls on offense that everyone thought should have been runs to burn time? Or would we have been talking about how the sky fell in South Bend and we lose by 30? I am not a fan of the way this season has went but as I reflect based on facts rather than emotion, we have a great core of young players that will be hard to handle next year. I believe we have a team that is growing up before our eyes as we witness crunch time against UNC and Notre Dame. Pressure situations that will make this team reflect on what the emotional swing is in tight games. Realistically, we got the home field point to beat UNC and lost the home field point to Notre Dame. Are we realistically one point worse than the 16th ranked team in the country? I say no but that is whay we play the games. The coaching staff to win out will have a much better game plan against Wake and the rest of the ACC. That is the goal. Let's all watch and support this group of youngsters next weekend. Hooker will start. It will be a fast paced game. I can see us hitting Wake in the mouth a little bit harder than what they might be used to. If we can beat them then I think the path opens up. Guaranteed we just played the best group of athletes we will see all year unless we get to Charlotte to play Clemson. Go Tech!!
