They've been using the bankrupt panic thing for a bazillion years to


aid in fundraising. It's just not true. Since 1960, revenues and expenses have risen at almost identical rates. The reason is athletic departments have incentive to show little to no surplus. Showing a big surplus actually hurts fundraising.
