Maybe I am just skeptical because this was brought up from government...

Is the thought process that the government officials are looking out for the student athletes, or are they looking out for tax dollars?

It seems to be sort of the legalize marijuana or gambling - the stuff is happening even if it is illegal, might as well make it legal so there is a paper trail to obtain any tax dollars off of it (any endorsement deal is getting taxed).

I am not sure if I am opposed or for it - I think that it sounds great and all, but I don't think this stops here. I think you will see more problems from this, I think you see demands for more pay in the future, and I am wondering if university presidents in the near future start thinking about pulling sports from their program to avoid what comes down the road - I guess only if the money coming in starts dwindling faster than the money going out..

I just think that the athletes don't realize how much the name on the front of the jersey has for college football as opposed to pro. You don't have as many die-hard NFL team fans as you used to - some fans just follow a person around to different teams (like myself) or just watch for fantasy football and don't care who wins.
