As a Hoo, I'll agree that we aren't anything near elite...

but, that has been the case with VT for years. Your fans, and especially ESPN, have hyped you to be something "elite". You are only elite when you challenge for championships (conference and national) on a regular basis. That hasn't been the case, correct? ESPN has done their best to make you seem elite, because they loved your nighttime atmosphere. It seemed elite. I noticed this year, the ESPN announcers commented that it just wasn't the same at Lane anymore. Hard for them to hype a stadium that isn't full. When you pour everything you have, (great football facilities, by the way) into something, you have to follow that with results. Until someone other than Clemson makes it to the National Champio nship playoffs... we are all just "good, very good" ACC teams in a league with elite Clemson. I admit that, can you?

I laugh at Mark Packer, when on his morning show on ACCN, he says. "The ACC needs Miami, FSU and VT to be good. I get the Miami, FSU part. They have actually won NC's and have an antiquated "mystique". Minus the close call when Vick was around, VT hasn't.

It used to be FSU and the rest. Now it's Clemson and the rest. Sorry, those are the facts and I understand that. Yes, I also understand we are 0-15 against our natural rival and that needs to change. I hope it does soon, but also realize it doesn't mean squat on the national stage. It's just something for Hokies to yawn about and us to sigh about.
