I think it's the strength and conditioning coach that is the issue.

I am no expert, and I don't even know who the current coach is post Gentry, however, Frank and Bud never had an abundance of 4 and 5 star recruits. What they had, was the ability to get the kids into the program and turn them into all world studs. Personally, I think ever since Gentry has gone, the team has been in decline.

Look at the speed difference in the players. Watch our linebackers inability to keep up with a tight end or running back on pass coverage. Watch our D lineman try to chase down a running back on a sweep.

Sure, the D looked all world in the first quarter, but once they get gassed from being on the field for so long with the poor O, they lose focus and just can't keep up. In the past, the D could recover from all those 3 and outs, but post Gentry, not so much.

Every year, we get these kids into the program and we are excited to see what they do. But by the time they get to the field, perhaps they have lost a step. Perhaps they have added too much of the wrong kind of muscle.

Just a thought. I am not throwing stones. Everyone of those kids is in 1000 times better shape than I ever was, but something is missing, and it just feels like the team is a step slower than most.
