Franky Beamers shares some responsibility
His last 4 years were crappy and his last 7 years recruiting were shaky at best. His decision to keep Stiney in the program for so long allowed us to have poor offensive recruiting gains and coaches weren't sending their high profile offensive players to our system. That started in 2008ish. We were on a trend downward in on the field talent slowly from that point and it showed in wins and losses in Franks last 4 years and it's showing now. It's hard to make recruiting gains when you play 500 or less football. We've been doing that for about 7 years now with the exception of the one good year Fu had when taking over. Contrary to revisionist history, Frank did not leave the program in good shape. He left it in mediocrity.
