The problem with relying on a future based on youth - see 2014
Is that they don't always stick around, or get mature.
I was very excited by our freshmen (true and redshirts) that season. Some of them panned out (Cam, Ford, Bucky, Pfaff), and some of them did not (McKenzie, Marshawn, Newsome, Ford, Durkin) and some were okay - Travon McMillian. Thus our 2017, while solid, did not reach its potential based on what I thought would happen that year.
While I'd like to pencil us in for the 2022 CFP, history suggests it wouldn't be wise to do so based on our freshmen at this point.
