I blame the Colts organization
for postponing the announcement (should have announced Friday or as soon as they knew, at least a day prior to the game). I think the fan reaction (booing) was a classic Stage 2 grieving response to loss, they got word during the game and likely went through Stage 1 denial, only to have it confirmed by others around them and via other social media platforms, then they moved to Stage 2 anger. Had the colts given them a day to grieve, they would have likely moved on to Stage 5 acceptance by game-time and would have had perspective to appreciate him and react in a positive way. I don’t think it was personal, just poor information management by the Colts.
