...but I've kind of lost interest in basketball at this point in my life. And as I already mentioned, I'm tired of the special treatment Duke and UNC get in basketball. I find the atmosphere at most ACC football stadiums to be boring and lame, and I really do think membership in this conference has made VT soft over the past 15 years.

Despite the Big East being an unstable and financially weak conference, I really enjoyed VT's days as a member there. I hated most of the other member schools, but that's what made it so much fun. Virtually every game elicited some sort of reaction. Now, even though the ACC has gobbled up much of the old Big East, it just doesn't seem the same.

Obviously VT desperately needed a stable conference to land in during the early 2000s, so the ACC jump made sense, and it has certainly been a much better financial situation. But given the choice, I'd choose the SEC or even the Big10 over the ACC. Neither of those is a realistic option, so the ACC it is...I'm just not enthusiastic about it.
