Hard to know for sure but I have reviewed our Win/Loss

records for the past 3 years and more than 90% of the time the games we lost we were outrebounded by an average of at least 7 rebounds / game. And, the teams we lost to had multiple highly recruited "bigs", i.e. guys who were at least 6'8", and in most cases they had several players who were in the 6'10" range or taller. I know that set of facts by themselves are not the only factor in our losing, but it is a very clear and consistent trend. There are VERY few teams (Villanova is the exception that people always bring up) who make the Final 4 or win the National Title who don't have a number of quality big men - and I don't mean traditional "centers" like Alcindor, Wilt, etc.- who control the boards, protect the rim, and force opponents to alter shots, etc. in/around the basket. We could have done without 2 or 3 of the 8 or 9 guards we always had on Buzz's teams and replaced them with 2 or 3 guys like other highly successful teams have that have size.
